I still remember the day
Was it you or the agony by the way
New mother I was to be
Thinking this should have made me feel
But people and pain
Made me think the other way!
It was a bright sunny day
Monsoon didn’t effect it any way
Confident I was beaming with pride
Ready to welcome you with
Knitting all my dreams I had
Since I was child
I still remember the day!
Neglecting the
warnings of labour pain
Faces so brim did disappoint me
Promised myself to handle the pain
Time ticking slower than normal
I still remember the day
No sign of you coming out
Just the pain growing throughout
Shattered my confidence,
Oh! this pain
‘Sister!’ I pleaded, ‘help me’
But she said time has not yet come
The place echoed my screams
I still remember the day!
No, this can’t happen to me
Why the delay
‘Oh! God! Let me go’
At last she came
Asked me to push you out
But was there laying with no strength
I still remember the day!
She took hold of my hand
Eyes tricked me
I feared. I obeyed
Closed my eyes heard you cry
At the top of your lungs
Did it send any sensation
I still remember the day!
He said you look different
I understood what he meant
Yes, I was a breathing corpse
And fighting for my
strength
Thought everything got over then
I was wrong and that was
The beginning of misery
My mind was only alive
Shocked to be in the midst of
Ants and blood
Now tell me
what Kept the memories of the day alive
Is that you or the pain!
